Ever since the corporate slogan "Our aim is to make the Earth better place to live" was announced on the 40th company anniversary in 1970, Iwatani has been deeply committed to placing "Gas and Energy"at the heart of their environmental management policies. Gas resources are, after all, one of the earth's most precious gifts to mankind. In 1998, the company drafted the Iwatani Group Environmental Charter, so that the companies in the group would have ideals to strive for.Environment problems include not only the prevention of industrial pollutions, but also water pollution caused by waste and domestic wastewater, even global warming, ozone depletion and other global environmental problems. For this purpose, while adhering to the "Iwatani Environmental Charter", we are committed to strengthening the organization and system and improving the awareness of employees in order to achieve greater achievements.

Under our slogan “Creation of a more comfortable space on the Earth is what Iwatani wishes and strives for,” Iwatani strives to achieve solutions to the social challenge of environmental issues and to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by realizing a zero-CO2 society based on hydrogen.
Passed down through the generations as the underpinnings of all our business efforts, Iwatani’s corporate philosophy “Become a person needed by society, as those needed by society can prosper,” calls for continually pursuing satisfaction for society and for individuals. Symbolic of these efforts are the LPG and hydrogen businesses. LPG, which effected a revolution in home fuel use, has significantly reduced the amount of work required of homemakers in the kitchen and become a clean energy source essential to our lives today. Now in use for more than 80 years, hydrogen today is the driving force behind innovations across a wide range of fields; As the ultimate clean energy source, it is essential to building a sustainable society.

At Iwatani, we consider a sound understanding of and efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015, essential aspects of identifying materiality. By validating the relationship between each materiality and the 17 Goals and 169 Targets of the SDGs and identifying which SDGs relate to each materiality, the Iwatani Group will contribute to widespread innovations throughout society.
